Poached egg plant?

I thought this was what this was but now I'm not so sure!

I saw slugs on the acer earlier so I'm off to get rid of them!! It's sunny and I hope to at least cut the grass today.

The problem is so many plants have the same common name. To me poached egg plant is an annual(Limnanthes); this looks more like a Cistus (Rock Rose) to me and very pretty it is too. Sunny and hot here today just how I like it.....luckily :-) we don't have any grass.

We are guessing either a matilija poppy or an abutilon, a flowering maple??? We are just shooting from the hip, here, let us know if you find out what it is!

I do not care much about what you wrote, I am stunned by the quality of your photos !! We have slow surfing here in South Africa so that it needs patience to look at a blog with photos, but your blog was worth it by far. I am going to stare some more, before I leave. - By the way I do not know much about flowers. Our dry climate makes succulent plants a necessity, so let me enjoy the photos again.
